The Chinese Ministry of Education approved the establishment of Shanxi University of Traditional Chinese Medicine (SXTCM) in 1989. In 2001, it was granted permission to provide bachelor's degrees; in 2002, it was granted permission to accept overseas students; and in 2008, it was granted permission to admit students from Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Macau. In 2017, Shanxi University of Chinese Medicine became Shanxi Province's first and only unit (point) project construction university to offer Ph.D. degrees.
“Shanxi University of Traditional Chinese Medicine” (SXTCM), already known as Shanxi College, may be a college in Shanxi, China. The World Health Organization decertified SXTCM, along with 20 other Traditional Medicine Universities, as a Medical University in November 2019. (WHO). Graduates of Shanxi University of Traditional Chinese Medicine will be able to work only in subjects linked to Chinese Medicine as of 2020.

- Should have a minimum of 60% marks or a B grade in the Higher School Certificate (FSC / A-Level).
- The class should have a 90% attendance rate.
- Should not break any University rules.
- Should not violate any law of the People's Republic of China.
