Historical Significance

KUST has an enriched background in educating students with updated knowledge and tools. Its formation was based on the merger of two prominent education providers in Kunming.

The first one is the Kunming Institute of Technology, which was founded in 1925.
The second one is Yunnan Polytechnique University, which started in 1954.
In 1999, these two educational institutions, KIT and YPU, merged, forming KUST.
