It was first established as Hangzhou Aviation Industry Finance School and after several name changes and mergers, it finally got the name Hangzhou Dianzi University.
It is now established by Zhejiang Province, the National Defense Science, and Technology and Industry Commission. It was listed as a key university in Zhejiang Province in 2015.There are over 25,000 full-time students enrolled and more than 2,400 faculty members under 19 colleges and teaching units, and an independent college.
Of these 2,400 faculty members, 1,300 have doctoral degrees. The university currently offers 45 undergraduate degrees along with master’s and doctoral programs.
